And old client of mine asked some weather elemets to put on a map I've previously done.

It took me just less than a couple of hours, using 80% of time to planning how to do and the remaining 20% just to draw them.

Budapest ghetto map

One of my latest project was about the Budapest ghetto (below just a detail of the map).

Its center is the Great Synagogue on Dohany street, perhaph the largest in Europe (but here in Rome we have also a very beautiful one. On the left of the picture, you can see the Jewish Museum, then the arcades of the Heros temple and on the back the plants of the Raul Wallenberg memorial. The building on the right is the seat of the Jewish Federation in Hungary.

I'm deep on so much jobs I've no time to update my blog. One of the last map I was warking was about the bi museum in paris, to me very crowded.

E-bike tour in Sintra

When you're in Portugal, you can't miss a tour on e-bike just around the town of Sintra.
The tour have 3 different paths of 6, 13 and 23 kilometers.

To me, the most impressive site is the lighthouse in Cabo da Roca (Cape Rock) just in front of the Atlantic Ocean.

Florence Map

A turist map of the home of Reinassance.
However, my favourite churches are not on it:

Santa Croce, where some immortals as Galileo and Michelangelo are buried.
A statue of  Dante, who was banned from Florence and buried in Ravenna, gives a scornful look at the town.

Santa Maria Novella, just in front of the Railway Station, with frescos by Michelangelo and his teacher Domenico Ghirlandaio.
But to me this place is more linked to this song dated back to 1980.

Tempe, Arizona

Another map I've done in July was about the town of Tempe (Arizona).

It was very fun to discover a city I've never heard of.
And the City Hall building is incredible.

But for us european the most fantastic things are the large streets running straight away.

Panama

I spend several nights drawing this map of Panama.


This is a close up of the old town (Casco Antiguo) and its monuments.

There is a subway, too (mostly to be completed).

Before this project I was thinking of Panama as a small town on the Pacific Ocean.

I was wrong.
It is not only a very old spanish town but its mid town remember me an american metropolis as Seattle or Chicago as you can see here.

Below the skyscrapers there is the old town or Casco Antiguo with lower and old buiding and churches as an european town.
The yacht and other boats are just on the panama channel which started on the left of the picture.

The church tower belongs to the Iglesia of San Francisco de Asis.
Just below the Teatro National.
In the first row, the obelisk of Plaza de Francia.

This is the map they asked for.

A previous version they don't liked because too much colored.

La vecchia stazione Termini di Roma, con la tettoia di metallo, che sarà abbattuta nel secondo dopo guerra.

Update: è stata caricata una nuova immagine con le correzioni sulle mura serviane e sulla data delle terme.

Vasto nel 1793 - piantina

Altro frutto delle lunghe settimane estive è la piantina di Vasto, rifacimento della vista a volo di uccello del 1793.


Poichè la cartina originaria aveva il punto di vista opposto al mio, (di fronte al muro delle Lame, in alto sul mare, tanto per capirci) mi sono dovuto andare a ricercare alcune informazioni sui libri di D'Anelli, Marchesani e compagnia varia.

Santa Maria era quasi uguale ad oggi, mancava la cupola che fu aggiunta nell'800.


San Pietro era invece stata appena finita ma, a detta degli storici, era molto buia all'interno.

Il castello era ancora un 'castello', prima che ne venissero stravolti i fianchi, da quello su corso Garibaldi (il negozio di Pipino) a quello su Piazza Rossetti e su Piazza Diomede (il lato di Martone)

L'unica correzione che ho dovuto fare alla piantina è posizionare in maniera il convento dei Cappuccini (ora chiesa di Sant'Anna) che era stato collocato molto più a Nord.

In pratica nella piantina originale era stato piazzato quasi di fianco agli attuali palazzi delle scuole elementari mentre in realtà è dietro l'angolo di via Veneto e via Tobruk (alle spalle di Pizza Call, per intenderci).



Circa il diverso punto di osservazione rispetto alla piantina originaria, è perchè ho scelto di disegnare Vasto guardandolo dal mio balcone di casa. (vabbè, un poco più in alto).

Spiaggia e porto di Punta Penna - piantina

Frutto dei mesi estivi ecco la piantina di Punta Penna, disegnata con riferimento ai lavori di Heirich Berann e James Niehues (più o meno) e anche ai disegni di Maurice Noble

Trattandosi di una mappa ho dovuto semplificare molto, edifici, rilievi e proporzioni. La visuale non è in prospettiva
Se altri tratti suggestivi della costa sono stati tagliati via (insomma Punta Aderci) è perchè "meno siamo meglio stiamo" :)
